Husky Golden Retriever Facts

The Husky Golden Retriever mix is not a purebred dog, but it is a new type of hybrid designer canine. This dog is the result of crossbreeding a Siberian Husky and a Golden Retriever. It is also known as Goberian; it is a rare type of designer breed, but its popularity is increasing nowadays. A mixed-breed often inherits the traits of either parent breed. Therefore, the offspring is less predictable than its purebred counterpart.

What To Expect From a Husky Golden Retriever

  • Appearance – Despite the similarities, Husky Golden Retrievers have individual differences. Each Husky Golden’s appearance always depends on the genes it inherits from its parents. However, your dog may be athletic with sturdy legs and a straight back. Usually, the head is round with a narrow muzzle. Its ears may be floppy, but there is a possibility of being erect. The eyes may also be a sharp blue color, brown, or one of each color.
  • Body Built – When it comes to body size, a grown-up Husky Golden Retriever grows into a medium or large dog. It stands 20-24 inches in height, and its weight reaches up to 90 pounds. A female dog is always smaller than the male, but with mixed-breeds, you can never tell.
  • The Coat and Color – The coat of a Husky Golden Retriever is twice as thick as its parent. It provides heat and keeps them warm; thus, they can’t endure warmer climates. The coat may be curly or straight, depends on which parent DNA it inherits. On the other hand, the color of this crossbred may vary. It may come out white, black, brown, gold, or a mixture of colors. Nonetheless, the color of each Husky Golden Retriever depends on its parents and its DNA.
  • Temperament – Considering that a Husky Golden Retriever is a mixed-breed, its behavior is unpredictable. But in general, this dog loves attention and enjoys being with people. It has a friendly and playful nature that makes it suitable for families with kids. However, this dog gets irritated in an instant, so you need a watchful eye when it is around with kids. One thing you must remember, this dog plays favoritism. It usually picks someone it will love most – that person will have a special place in its heart.
  • Training and Workout Requirements – When it comes to training and exercises, new dog owners may find it hard to train a Husky Golden Retriever. It is because of the Siberian husky gene that is stubborn despite being intelligent. So spending more time educating and teaching it obedience will benefit you in the long run. Just like its parents, this mixed-breed is athletic and oozing with energy. It means you need to provide it with vigorous exercises to match its energy levels at least once or twice a day.

In a nutshell, Husky Golden Retriever is a rare designer dog breed; thus, many people love this canine. It is an excellent canine, although it may not be the best option for first-time dog owners. However, with appropriate training, discipline, and socialization, this breed will become an obedient and well-rounded pet.
